The Cabildo will promote a campaign in schools and entities to raise awareness about energy savings through the insular area of Citizen Participation. Some thirty educational centers belonging to the Cuento contigo project will take part. The activity will also integrate teachers. Other voluntary entities integrated into the program will also be incorporated Tenerife Solidarity Island, dependent on Sinpromi, which has a total of 603 groups.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, points out that “actions will be carried out to promote changes in the consumption habits of families.” The talks and workshops, as well as the dissemination of informative material, will be promoted based on a collaboration agreement signed between the island institution and the Association for the Improvement of the Environment and Transition to Renewable Energies (Asmaer). Its objectives are to inform, sensitize and raise awareness about energy saving, sustainability and renewable energy. In parallel, specific actions will also be developed aimed at the associative fabric for entities, volunteers, user families and Tenerife society.
open to demand
The campaign is currently open to the demand of educational centers. With regard to volunteer entities, the sessions will be addressed to the 30 registered in the Tenerife Isla Solidaria Program that distribute food. But in the same way, if there is demand, it can be expanded to others. The town halls throughout the Island will also be a point of contact with families in vulnerable situations, so that they receive this advice. It is also planned to contact energy companies to collaborate, through corporate volunteering. The issues to be addressed will be, among others, how to save energy within the home, how to cook or use the washing machine, lighting, the use of hot water or electrical appliances, among other tips and recommendations to promote optimal management of energy consumption in the homes. These actions will be directed especially at vulnerable families.
‘Many hands do much’
A total of 31 organizations, including voluntary entities, companies, public institutions, sports groups and educational centers, participated in the III Many Hands Do Much Christmas Campaign, organized to help families and people in vulnerable situations. The initiative completed its third edition under the organization of the Tenerife Isla Solidaria program. The counselor Nauzet Gugliotta points out that “it has been carried out to coincide with the arrival of the Three Wise Men to help ignite the illusion of boys and girls.” Among the organizations collaborating with the entities are the French Lyceum, Plan B Group, Century 21 Aguere Real Estate, the General Treasury of the Social Security and the Canarian Federation of Underwater Activities. | JDM
